ANDROID HOW TO: How Text Across Multiple Devices With your Phone Number

If you didn't know, with IOS8 your iPhone has the ability to connect with devices on your Apple ID account and let's you text people from your phone number. If you're an Android user and want and want this feature I have the solution for you!

1. Download the Apps

The apps that we will be using are, the mysms SMS Text Messaging Sync and the SMS Texting from Tablet & Sync if you want to text from a tablet. The first thing is to install the messaging sync app on the phone you're using. This app will sync your messages on your phone and sends them out to the devices you have the app installed on, and, with your Google account, sends them to the browser when you log in on a computer.

2. Log in

When you open the app you will be prompt to sign  in with your Google account on all of your devices. When you log in and accept the agreement you are now able to text on multiple devices with your old phone number!!!

REVIEW: Samsung Galaxy S6

The galaxy S5 was a good phone but it had problems. The phone was a little thick, it had a weird, plastic, dimple back and it also looked like it was made for people who are more active. At least it had a decent camera and was easy use. When Samsung released its 2015 flagship I was really impressed. The phone has a nice sleek design with an aluminum bezel and glass on back side of the phone. It is running the latest version of Android with the latest version of touchwiz on top. So far this phone has impressed me.

Software

The Galaxy S6 is running the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 lollipop, and has Samsung touchwiz UI on top of it. In the past I never really liked touchwiz because it was so bright, to many features, and kind of slowed down the speed of the phone. This year Samsung really improved their software by making it more customizable and for me making it feel more faster. With the new touchwiz Samsung made a theme store to customize the phone. My favorite on is the material design theme, it has that nexus feel mixed in with Samsung features.

Camera

The phones camera is awesome! With a 16 megapixel camera you can get crystal clear shots..... I in the day light. At night the camera does not look that great, it looks like the picture is washed out sometimes and also has to much sound. For the front facing camera I say, with the 5 megapixel camera it is great for taking selfies and to video chat. The one thing I don't like about it is the app. The shutter speed is fast and everything else is perfect except for the features. When you open up the camera app it comes with the basic features like auto and panorama but if you want more you have to download them off of the Samsung app store. That also means that you have to create an account with Samsung so you can download them. If you don't have a problem with then the camera would be grate for but for the people who don't like that you can just download the Google camera or some other third-party camera app.

Wireless Charging

Okay I know this is not that big of a deal but the Galaxy S6 finally has wireless charging built inside the phone. That means, since the phone is inclosed,  that you don't have to buy a separate back cover for wireless charging like the previous phones. The only thing that you have to buy separate is the wireless charger.

The High

The best thing about this phone is that it is a huge makeover from the previous phones. It no longer has that slimey and plastic backes. Another good thing about the phone is that there is a change in the software so it is more friendly to use then the last one.

The Low

The phone is slippery and fragile because of the glass. The camera is protruding out of the phone which means it makes it easier to scratch the only way to fixes this is a case.

The Bottom Line

The phone is easier to use, it has an amazing camera and and the features are not as noticeable as the last one. I would recommend getting this phone, I did.

Pure or Almost Pure Android Phones. UPDATE

There are many Android phones out on the market and most of them have custom UI's on top of Android. The way to get rid of a custom UI on a phone is rooting that phone or buying a phone with pure Android. The phones that usually have pure Android are nexus phones, but there are more devices out there. Today you will see how many there are.

1. Google Nexus 6

The Google Nexus 6 is the best way to get the most out of Android. This device was the first ever device to run Android 5.0 Lollipop with dual front facing speakers and and a 5.96in display this is the biggest phone on the list. If you want a big pure Android phone with fast updates this is the phone for you.

2. Samsung Galaxy S6

I know what you are thinking "This is not a pure Android phone it's the galaxy S6." The reason I am putting the galaxy S6 on this list is because yesterday a material design theme was released on to the theme store. It is not pure android but still it is close. I personally love the phone but with a material theme it is grate. If you want to make more like pure android download the Google Now launcher and Google apps off of the play store.

How to Live in the Cloud

Lots of people uses the cloud to store files and photos but do you now that being in the cloud allows you to free some space on any device. If you want to do that but need help I recommend you stay and read this.

1. Photos

Photos are one of the things that are almost on every device. Since we want to free some space on every device that has photos the cloud is your answer. For me I use Google plus photos to back up my devices. Every time I take a picture it automatically backs up when I'm on wifi or automatically after the picture is taken. The bad thing about using Google plus photos is that it ties in with both Google drive and all the media you sent on gmail. If you want a free terabyte worth of just photo storage then use Flickr.

2. Files and Documents

When using files and documents in the cloud you can access and edit them anywhere. For me I use another Google product, I like to use Google drive to store all of my files so I can access them on both my phone, my tablet and any device that I can sign into my Google account. I also use Google Docs and Google Slides for my documents and presentation and they are automatically stored on Google Drive.  I love using these so just in case I switch to iOS I can still access them. If you want to find more options try Microsoft 360 and Microsoft onedrive.

3. Music

For music I would use either Google play music or use a streaming music service. Yes again I use another Google product but that is only because I use Android. I also recommend, if you have a good data plan,  a music streaming service to stream all of your music in stead of buying each song or album one by one. If you do want to buy each song one by one I use Google play music because it automatically saves music in the cloud and if you want to save the album or song for offline then you can pin it to your device. If you have an Apple device then I recommend using iCloud

Android 5.0 Lollipop

Yesterday Google finally released the final name for Android L, Android 5.0 Lollipop. Google also announced the Nexus 6, the Nexus 9, and also the Nexus Player, the first device to run the new android wear but I will get more into that in the next post.

Features

Material design

During Google I/O, Google's developer conference, Google showed off the new bold, colorful, and responsive UI. The new UI has new vivid colors and typography. It also has realistic light and shadow so if they're is a button on the screen it will look like it has a shadow underneath it so it would look like it is floating.

Notifications

From the lock screen you are able notifications and for some of them you can reply right from the lockscreen. You also have to ability to hide impotent notifications from the lock screen just in case you leave your phone at the restaurant you were just at and no one can see important notifications when they wake up the phone. This is important if you are trying to get a new high score in that game you love. Now if you get a call for example a little box will appear on the top of the screen were you can answer it or just swipe it away to ignore it.

Device Sharing

If you're in a hurry you forget your phone, you can now log in to your Google account on another phone that runs lollipop and make a call with out sharing any files or personal stuff on that phone. This means you can lend your phone to other people with them shearing stuff with you.

Android TV

The new version is also compatible with Android TV so that means casting content from your phone just like Chromecast. You can even use your phone as a remote.

Device Set-Up

Setting up a new Android device has never been easier then ever with your old device you can tap the new device together and everything is transferred. You need to make sure to have a phone compatible with NFC first. With apps, music, books, movies, and TV are going to be transferred and for games you if you signed into with Google Play games all your high scores will stay the same.
